About Me

A return to the studio

After graduating from Crawford College of Art and Design I worked as an artist for 15 years during which time I exhibited in both solo and group shows. I then had to step away from my work, as I was needed elsewhere. It is only now, after a nearly ten-year break, that I am picking up my brushes once again and returning to the studio where I am currently working on a new body of work.

Exploring the emotional and visual resonance of places and objects shaped and worn down by time is at the heart of my painting practice. I constantly find myself drawn to weathered doors, rusted gates, forgotten objects and solitary buildings set against darkening skies. These subjects are not chosen for nostalgia alone, but for the way they carry traces of human presence long after that presence has faded.

I am interested in surfaces that have been marked by rust, peeling paint, stains and shadows. These textures become a language in the work, suggesting memory, absence and quiet endurance.

Ultimately, my work is concerned with the lifeforce of the overlooked and the worn. Through these quiet, restrained images, I aim to create spaces for reflection, where the familiar becomes slightly distant, and the ordinary reveals an underlying sense of mystery and emotional depth.
